Not Dead Yet Bike Ride participants have a choice of 10, 25 or 60 mile rides. The selection you make today for a distance is just to give us an idea as to how many people to expect for each ride and can be changed at any time. There are good rolling hills with some challenging terrain on all three routes, but many of the most challenging hills in the area have been avoided.
Run & Walk participants have a choice of a 5K trail race, 5K walk or 1mile stroll. All routes are on the trails at Pineland with the exception of the 1 mile stroll which is 95% on paved roads and suitable for strollers and small children on bikes. (We are no longer offering the 10K Race as the number of runners in this event has declined each year and the 5K has grown significantly.)
5K Trail Race & Walk Course Description - The race and walk course is 5kilometer off-road roller coasters on well-maintained cross country trails that twist, turn, and roll their way through forests, through fields and past working farmland. The trails are level, wide (12′), and non-technical with no roots or rocks, but very hilly. Although there are no major climbs, okay maybe one pretty steep descent and climb on the 10K route, the rolling terrain is unrelenting. The surface of the trails is mainly grass and dirt sprinkled with pine needles, pine cones, twigs, and small stones. Trail running shoes are recommended but not necessary.
Fundraising - We encourage all participants to raise additional funds to support the Cancer Community Center by personalizing your fundraising page today. Our goal is to raise over $110,000 from this year’s event. The Haley Cup - Established in 2012 is awarded annually to the top fundraising team at Fight Back Festival. The Haley Cup was named to honor Tim Haley (1967-2012) and his establishment of the inspirational Team Headstrong. The Cancer Community Center is honored to have been the beneficiary of Tim’s tireless commitment and infectious enthusiasm and trusts the teams who win this Cup each year will share in his passion for supporting those affected by cancer.
